We have less then 3 weeks before November 6th and the General Election. If you have not already registered to vote there is still time to do so. The last day to register in California is October 22nd. Every vote will count in this election. As it has been estimated approximately 1.5 millions votes will be need to defeat Ballot Measure B ! Now is the time to push and make sure the industry gets out the word and we get out the vote ! That starts with all of us in the industry as well !
Who has to register ? Anyone that has never voted before and wants to vote in the election. Who has to re-register to vote ? Anyone that has moved since the last time they voted. So if you have changed your address since the last election – you need to re-register to vote.
Luckily, California has made it easy to register for the first time or re-register if you have moved. You can even do it online through California’s Secretary of State’s website by following this link;
It is a step by step process. Here are the “rules” of voting in California;
ID Number. When you register to vote, you must provide your California driver’s license or California identification card number, if you have one. If you do not have a driver’s license or ID card, you must provide the last four digits of your Social Security Number (SSN). If you do not include this information, you will be required to provide identification when you vote.
Choice of Party.
Please enter the name of the political party with which you wish to register. If you do not wish to register with any party, enter “Decline to State” in the space provided. California law allows voters who “decline to state” an affiliation with a qualified political party or who affiliate with a nonqualified political party to vote in the primary election of any qualified political party that files a notice with the Secretary of State allowing them to do so. You can call 1‑800‑345‑VOTE or visit http://www.sos.ca.gov to learn which political parties are allowing nonaffiliated voters to participate in their primary election.
To register in California you must:
be a citizen of the United States
be a resident of California
be at least 18 years of age at the time of the next election
not be imprisoned or on parole for the conviction of a felony
not currently be judged mentally incompetent by a court of law
If you would like to download and print out a blank form and mail it in you can find a it here;
